Death wish during thunderstorms?

My Sims live in Oasis Springs. They recently went to visit their museum in Newcrest and it was gently raining. I took care of a few build things and it started to thunderstorm when I was done. When I had them travel back home I noticed one was apparently afraid of thunderstorms. Afterwards on a whim I sent them to Granite Falls for a week's stay to see if they'd luck out with another thunderstorm. I simply wanted to see if he got afraid again and if his husband would feel the same way. The last day of their vacation was a thunderstorm. One stayed inside and played with the pets, but the supposed scared one went outside and complained on the porch after the wind blew his umbrella inside out. It was at that moment he got hit by lightning. I was like WHOA and he shrugged it off and went inside to give his husband a hug. No sooner than he did that he bolted out the door and ran a small distance from the house and proceeded to get hit by lightning again and died. :'( Dummy....I wasn't about to let that be his fate even though I might have been able to entice Death to leave him be since I've got Deathflowers in my inventories. I clicked exit and lost about two in game days of play, but my boy's alive at least. What was up with that, though? If he was so afraid of storms why would he even go outside not just that first time but the second? You think he would have also learned by getting hit the first time not to do it again. Is this typical with storms or am I just blessed with a dimbulb? Or did he truly have a deathwish? I mean hugging his husband then running out the door right after and getting killed makes me wonder pffft lol
