- atreya335 years agoLegendThe above mentioned vendor stalls are a good method to get decorations in live mode.
You can also enter build mode if you want. If there are no sims living in the dorm you can go into build mode by clicking on the lot from the world map. If there are sims living in the dorm you can load the household and unlock the build mode with the cheat code bb.enablefreebuild - Thank you

Good to know, I will go and check on it, badly need a fridge  thank you!
Also a weird thing happened. I re-loaded the game and this time the decorations requirement is grayed out! It said that my sim ignores the tradition because living in university housing. Heh, would have helped to get this before reloading the game. - GalacticGal5 years agoLegend

That is so good to know. I have seen remodels of the dorm rooms and wondered how this was achieved. I also wish to install a thermostat, since my sims are all walking around in their winter outerwear, inside! I may just give it a try, now. They have one day left of their first Term, and two more terms to go. It's winter. Again, thanks for the cheat code.
As for the OP, it is entirely possible to decorate the hall at Britechester-U where the students can get their meals for free. I set up a Winterfest tree there one other time when my Sims were there. Problem is, before they could exchange gifts, they graduated the day before! My bad. They can also order a Grand Meal. - @poisondel It sounds like you're talking about holiday decorations specifically, i.e. the ones from the Attic Stack Decoration Box. Those can't be used in university housing.
The decorative items you can buy from the kiosks don't count for the "decorate" holiday tradition.
