Deleting Patchy the Straw Man

I bought Patchy when my Sim lived on a different lot with a garden. My Sim became friends with Patchy (the relationship bar is all green, I think) and he regularly left his little tree to help in the garden. Now my Sim moved and took furniture, so also Patchy, with her. But now I dont want Patchy anymore. I would like to delete him, but I am scared this might cause issues as my Sim is in a relationship with him.

So now my question: Is it safe to delete Patchy (when he is "resting" at his little tree) in buy mode even though my Sim is friends with him?

  • Thanks for the quick reply @Cupid !

And after I deleted Patchy, does he disappear from the relationship panel like my Sim had never known him?
  • Oh, I never knew you could befriend Patchy! How quaint. I may give it a go. I always purchase one to help with the growing of the plants, but never knew he could be like Pinocchio and become a 'real boy'. LOL

I think you can date, marry, and have kids with Patchy too if I’m not mistaken ?
  • Thank you for that information @kalaksed , I didn't know Patchy would become a hidden household.

I tested something without saving. When Patchy was standing around, looking at his phone as usual, I deleted his little tree. He then simply walked from my lot. He is still in my Sim's relationship panel, I can call him and send messages, but not invite him.

I also tried deleting the little tree when Patchy was resting there, both disappeared and Patchy also stayed in my Sim's relationship panel.

I have no idea how these things work in the game, but the first method seems at least for me to be "safer" as Patchy walked off the lot? So does that mean he is still "in the world" in this save, hidden, but simply not on my lot?

The whole thing confuses me a bit, I just want to make sure my save game won't have issues because of it.

If anyone else has experience in deleting Patchy (when he is friends with a Sim) and if it causes consequences, I'd be glad to read about it. :)
  • You can also just put him in your family inventory for safe keeping.
  • @ravynwolvf Thanks for that idea!

For now, to be safe and in case I want my fun and evil Patchy back, I created a dark second basement and put him there. Out of sight, out of mind. :D
