Desktop Icon

After updating the game just now, I clicked on the desktop icon like always to open the game, it says that that shortcut no longer works and now it's gone. So...how do I get a new one or is the game just gone now on my desktop? HOW do I start the game?
  • I have the same problem. There is a way to get it back but it's a bit of a process.

    For Windows 10:
    Go to File Explorer
    This PC>Local Disk (C:)>Program Files (x86)>Origin Games>The Sims 4>Game>Bin
Then you will see TS4_x64.exe (It will have the game icon)
Right click that, Click Send to, then Desktop (create shortcut)

Edit: I have no idea what it is for Mac because I have never owned any Apple products. Also, I think it's a similar path for Windows 7 and up but I'm not 100% sure on that. Hopefully someone can clarify that.

  • I dragged the icon out of my start menu and that created a shortcut, bit quicker than digging in files

THANK YOU EVERYONE BUT ESPECIALLY THIS!
  • That happened to me, too. (I actually had a second shortcut appear out of the blue recently which was weird. And neither worked after the update)
Open Origin and play it from the My Games area.

Yeah I was hoping that wasn't the only way...I want my icon back!

This happened to me too, I just mentioned this on another thread. I had actually two bins, bin and bin_le.
I created the new shortcut from the regular bin. I guess the bin_le is legacy edition. I don't want it there, but I'm afraid to delete it.

I had no other choice. I did that first but for some reason all of my icons did the same thing. I had to dig through the files.
  • @Cheekyimp But the one that you dragged from the start menu is tied to the regular Bin folder or the new Bin_le? Please can you control the path for me? I really want to know this thing because my game is lagging very much with the x64.exe (shortcut manually created)
