If I can not make any money off the cowplant I just do not want it. Its a bother to me and not at all cute. Sorry to anyone that love it. Now patchie whatever the scarecrows name is. You can save yourself money with him because he helps with the baby and the garden. So he adds money to your home.
Now if your really desperate for money, you can always move your family in with a rich family with more room then they need. I have done this. Later I kicked them out. lol, I had their money and there home. :)
If you're poor, do not worry about hiring a gardener it does not take that long to take care of your own garden and I really enjoy it. We are lucky we have an excellent gardener. But I am good at gardening work maybe better.
So, of course, my family is not in the need for money we are up to 4,000,000 right now. but to save money I plan on kicking out our Butler and moving in an adult couple, to care for our Pets, and to clean a little around the house. I will have to see how this works out, I do know I can get them to walk the dogs, and I can not with the butler, I clean up after my dogs, not my butler so I think my Butler is a total waste of money.
I have done the move in with another sim and keep them if I like them, etc. Helps them all out, as the sim gets to be played, and I love communal, large households. Keeps things interesting. I also have some super-rich households... I built a mansion {
Movie Star Manor} if you need one (
in my gallery), @Stormsview . Just over 1.5 million. Gotta spend some of it somewhere! ;) You can take up acting or something and move into De Sol Valley (that's what I did with a couple of households - and they test played my mansion.) ! Haha... there comes a point where it just accumulates after a bit... and you can only donate in $1000 increments. I also have moved unplayed sims in or started others, done new challenges, buy businesses, become testers for my builds, etc. with rich households.
The butler helps some, and if you have extra money, who cares. I try to ignore him or he drives me nuts. Patchy will paint on your easel too and you can sell the paintings. Lock the computer in a room or he'll be on it a lot. He will clean up dishes too and other helpful things. The butler has full skills in a number of areas, and I think he can play the piano, etc. for you (guests), he will repair objects, etc. Just not at the time you have in mind. :/ The butler will clean up after the dogs if you don't.
Oh.... and yes, the cowplant is nearly worthless. I absolutely share your sentiments about them. I posted about my cowplants - twice. The first post was something like 'I hate my cowplant. Pleas convince me otherwise..." (yup, useless, unless needed for a career goal or you like them eating sims/pets, etc.) and the second one was
"Still hate the Cowplant" https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/949036/still-hate-the-cowplant .... which I wrote right after it ate my sim. I have uploaded my cowplant into my gallery, "
Unwanted Cowplant" and "
Cow Plant and Essence". The household includes two botanists, so for future use for aspirational goal purposes... the cowplant lives in their inventory. When it's out is is fenced in (locked), but you will see how well that went if you read the post.
