Detective or Secret Agent

Secret Agents get regular work-wardrobe changes. It's fun seeing what they'll leave the house in. :)

I always enjoy the active careers

I find the active careers to be more trouble than they're worth for sims who have other responsibilities (spouse, kids, hobbies, whatever)—I reserve them for my sims who live alone. Since your sim appears to be about to have her hands full based on your other recent posts, I'd say the convenience of the rabbit hole will do you the most storytelling good.

I've played the detective career with two of my sims. One was single mother of a teenager and the other one lived alone. I agree it's great if you need something to fill your sim's days with, but if they have lots to do anyway then a rabbit hole career can feel like a relief. Although you could send them to work through a rabbithole in detective career too...

Detective mostly shines in rotational play, especially when your co-workers are all sims from other played households. Played households can also get selected as crime scenes by the game, but the actual crime is kept so vague that the mechanic feels immersive and imagination-fueling to me. The game won't trample on your story. (Saying this as a very controling player).

For a single household the career can be fun, too, but probably getting repetitive. I mainly voted for this because I like the idea of a college-trained detective who has never walked the beat and will have to prove themselves to their co-workers. You start at a higher salary, but will have a high requirement of cases to solve for your next promotion.

I think the Detective career is so much fun, I haven't played it in awhile. I hope to be able to soon, just have to find the right sim for it.

I saw this poll and immediately began singing "secret agent man" in my head. I had a sim who was a Diamond Agent, she wound up making serious money. Following your sim to work can be fun, but my first option would always be Spy. B)

I wouldn’t recommend the detective career, it’s quite buggy and frustrating to play.

Secret Agent has more interesting interactions, another option is the military career where you can become one of these agents in black an can plant bug on Sims, listen in on their conversations and black mail them
