Curious if I should buy the pack or not. Might have a bit of time to play tomorrow, and I'm kinda in the mood for TS4. Soooo... those of you that have had the pack for a while, would you say it was worth it?

Yes I like it but... Plenty of people have said here on the forums that this doesn't feel like a game pack and I agree, it's something in between a stuff pack and a game pack. The randomly assigned likes/dislikes can sometimes ruin a gig with nonsense likes/dislikes that makes no sense for the room that you are building. It's not too bad but it can be annoying that sometimes when you ask your client about what they like two or three activities pop up but no favorite color, even if they have one. Sims can have a decor style that they like, but Maxis have not given all build/buy items a style, some decor options are very limited. In my language they have for some reason translated the style names in build/buy to something completely different compared to what they are named in their likes/dislikes as well so it's very confusing. Level addition gigs which you unlock later in the career are more or less broken.

I would say a yes if you are a builder and play on console or PC without custom content. While I think the items are a little bland and lack finer details they are useful to mix in with the existing packs. The toaster oven I have not used yet, maybe it will be good for break rooms at the hospital or science lab. It feels really out of place in an interior design themed pack. If you are on PC and use cc you do not probably need this pack just for the new furniture and decor. Maxis match and Alpha-style sectionals, shelving and separate oven/stove tops and better kitchen counters/cabinets are widely available for free.If you are looking for new gameplay I would say no or wait for a discount. I am playing on console so I know mods are not the issue. It is glitchy. Several times I had my sim try to do the big reveal to have the game skip it and jump right to final results. Part of the fun is watching your clients look around and then seeing their reactions. There is a moodlet where you know the results before the final verdict, you do not need to click on it but I wish the devs left it out. The tension of do they like it is the whole point. There is nothing for your sim to do career-wise between gigs except write interior design articles or watch the new HGTV-like channel. If you have Get Famous you can create videos or with Get to Work you can run a furniture store so that could help flesh things out.Also I do not think game mechanics are explained well, for example no new floor tiles makes you think you can not change the flooring itself but it really means you can not expand the room. I see addition I think add-on as in exterior, not creating a new room within the existing interior. To sum it up I would wait for a discount or maybe get it in a bundle.

Thanks all, I do enjoy building and furnishing quite a bit and while I love CC I barely ever use it because I find it so tiresome to put back in and check etc whenever they update the game. I'll load my game with CC when maxis has stopped patching it :) so I might get this tomorrow or later tonight.

I like it. The career is not too demanding, you basically do it when you feel like it. Personally I think it could have easily been a part-time job or freelance type job. The furniture is nice. The shelves go down with the walls, so you may not see them if you play with walls down or cutaway view, and some items may appear suspended in the air. I like that the families stay away and return only when you call them back. Basically you have free use of their house. Also, if you get the starter gigs where they don't specify exactly the room and what they want, you could practically play alternative style and and instead of decorating just rearrange their furniture and do things like cleaning, repairs/upgrades, gardening and cook for them while they are away.

I still say this game is more of a stuff pack than a game pack. However, I do so love the connecting couches, the cool new Kitchen counters/cupboards, new appliances, new bathroom stuff & especially the new shelves that connects & goes perfectly in all rooms. I also like the pretty dresses in CAS.

I can't say yes or no but I am leaning to yes if that helps. :-) I am planning on buying it when it goes on sale. My budget right now just covers Cottage Living. Let me know how you like it if you do purchase.

I thought it would make me more interested in building, but it couldnt even keep me interested to finish the career. I got as far as to level 8 I think. Im not much into Ikea contemporay either as its so overused here in Scandinavia, so for me the pack was not worth it at full price

I wasn't terribly enthused by the idea but I've enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. There's enough variation in the different types of assignments that it keeps me interested and figuring out what type of reno will work for a sim's declared likes and dislikes is more fun than I thought it would be. I do like the style and assets of the pack but it's not necessary to use just those items for an entire renovation; I think my favorite one I've done so far was a luxury bathroom for George Cahill in his Strangerville bunker, hehe, and for that I'm not sure I used anything from the actual pack. Other renovations I've used a lot of it. So, the question kind of invites subjective answers; to me it's worth it, but if my experience (or that of anyone who responds) doesn't sound appealing to you, you might want to hold off.

So I now voted in my own thread but after playing with it for a bit and being TOTALLY in love with all the amazing items I'd say yes :) Career is kinda fun too and I love we can just send them off on their own.

@Bluegayle you're welcome! Honestly if you're the type to have liked the TS3 IKEA pack, this is not so different, costs the same, the sectional sofas and cupboards are out of this world, and there's some decently fun gameplay (I actually thought the reactions were pretty funny).

Is it a traditional GP? No I guess not. But it's definitely a pack I like a whole lot more than most vacation GPs because I simply never really use them whereas this I'll use all the time.
