I use MCCC too and have been updated, the event is still there.
You do need to schedule the event with a selected Sim who is famous as well, and they have to be famous enough to have unlocked the event. It doesn't show up as an option at all, not even a grayed out option, if the Sim which you have selected is not famous enough to have unlocked that event type.
Also, are you sure you were looking for "Fan Meet and Greet" and not just "Meet and Greet". I've forgotten the word fan is in front of the event name and failed to spot it on occasion myself a few times because of that.
