It won't matter what their "true" color is, whatever their current hair color is will pass on down to the offspring. At least that was how it has been in my game. I haven't done Diego yet, but most of the sims in my game I have changed their hair color to match their eyebrows. But then again, maybe Diego has simply dyed his eyebrows.
Not entirely true, My sim just dyed his color gray and his wife has redhair, and then their son has his dad's original black hair. as for Diego lobos, I usually judged sim's original hair color by their eyebrow, iirc he has brown eyebrows.
I think that's also because toddlers don't have gray, pink, blue (and a few other) hair selections by default, therefore their hair becomes nulled to the first color (which is black). However if both parents have default natural colors like blond, red, black, brown etc. they'll always take to that even if it's recently changed.
So in other words, the game attempted to use the father's hair color, but since it wasn't within the toddler's selection it nulled to black. However though, if the father's haircolor is blonde (recently changed or born with it), the child's hair would be blond if it selects the father's hair genes to go with it.
This. Also, if you have cc hairs with cc colors (as in Alpha hairs), kids will most often be born with black hair.
Me and a friend was playing a challenge together and we called it the curse of the black hair. Cause our kids kept being born with black hair, but that's cause at least one of their parents generally had CC hair color. It was fun to call it that, even though we knew the cause. :)
