I think I will bite the bullet and purchase For Rent. It's only 38% off, but without it, I get UI problems on the gallery every time I accidentally click on a residential rental.

Be careful when using this pack, the save corruption bug is still not fixed. It's a huge thread, so I'll just post a link to the last page (currently p. 57!!): https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-Orange-Green-Exclamation-signs-over-lots-Houses/td-p/10533991/page/57

For Rent is not bug free.
I turned everything off in the pack after I bought and found out it was buggy.
I'm playing that EP with everything turned off just so that I can play with the DLC that I paid for.
This EP is not completely clean, and I don't have time to wait after paying full price. My game still runs fine with this EP, but I can't speak for anyone else when they purchase this EP. I would trudge carefully. I can still play my game and visit the world as a vacation and food destination, but I would not live there or be a landlord or play any of the game's rental functions at this point in the game with this EP.
edit: This is why I put a money block on all EP's right now. There's a lot of fixin' to be done.

Thank you both for the warnings. I'm probably not going to actually play with the pack for a while. It'll just sit there until the bugs get worked out. I'm hoping the gallery will quit giving me UI exceptions just having it in my game. I try to avoid residential rentals in the gallery, but I keep accidentally opening them.
Since I'm starting a new save, it'll probably be some time before I'm even ready to play in this world. I'm just now finishing San Myshuno.

Some of the EP sale prices (EA app) are weird. Horse Ranch is 50% off, but some older EPs — even much older ones, like Seasons — are only 30% off. High School Years is 50% but Cottage Living, which is a year older than HSY, is 30%. For Rent is the oddball out of all the EPs at 38%.
I wonder what the rationale is for these discounts. It is based on popularity? The more popular the pack, the less of a discount they offer? 🤔

That's weird. I have Seasons and Cottage Living as 50% off when I bring up the app. For Rent is the only EP that is not 50% off - 38%. They must have updated it.
They've changed how they price them after Seasons was released. For Rent isn't old enough to be 50% off. I remember when they were all 50% off on the very next sale. Now we have to wait a couple of sales for them to go 25% off, then 30-something percent off and finally some months down the road 50% off. (Saying this makes me feel ancient like I'm telling the kids how I had to walk uphill in the deep snow to AND from school. 😄)

I had no idea there was a sale going on. Thanks for letting me know.
I think EA and steam can each choose their own sales price independentl . I know in the past that they had different sales prices for sims 3 packs. Back then steam had the better price.

It seems like they updated the prices. Shame, I was eyeing that 38% off for For Rent, but it's back to 25% off so I'll just until next year to get it, I suppose.

And Horse Ranch is only 38% off now. I should have bought it instead of waiting for the weekend. Sigh.

That sale is weird. I noticed it last time I played, and since For Rent was 38% off, I bit the bullet and bought it. Haven't played with it so far even though it's installed, but I rarely start using a new pack immediately after buying it, and if it corrupts the save... I think I'll make a back-up copy before I proceed.
