Short version is achievers and dollhousers. https://medium.com/@mikesego/achievers-and-dollhousers-7a24fd84a49b
I'm a dollhouser. I set my own goals and play by my own rules.
Under that category I fall into:
1) Deviant: I like fails, deaths, and using supernatural abilities to make my game more interesting. Fire, electrocution, death by flies, cowplant, scared to death, and jelly bean are my favorite deaths. Drowning by removing the ladder can be fun too. Why online Sims game would not be safe for my fellow Simmers with my deviant style.
2) Family: I love the whole cradle to grave experience and view each life stage as important. I do like telling stories with my families especially babies and toddlers I can carry around.
3) Builder: I like building with terrain tool, water tool, houses, neighborhoods, and worlds.
4) Sandbox: I like setting my own rules and not following scripted goals. I guess this follows under laid back and I do love mods and CCs.
5) Rotational: I like playing with many families as once in no defined order. I like having the option to turn on and off story progression.
I can play single sims and follow goals as I've played the Life Stories series, but it's not my preferred play style and it isn't challenging enough for me because once achievements are met, I run out of things to do. I like to treat the Sims games like a tool rather than a game and why the Sims 4 is my least favorite of the four iterations and why I struggle to make my playstyles work with it. I guess that's why the Sims 2 suits my play styles the best.
