I like it as part of my line up of things my sims can do. Admittedly I don't run any restaurants or diners so I don't know the problems people run into trying to do this. My sims just go there on dates as an outing or if they get the call. I don't maybe do it normally either in that they might play the piano or wreak havoc and cause trouble while there... but my sims usually have a good time or at least I do if they don't.
I think the only thing I dislike is that they have to pay if they are invited out.
