I can totally understand you and I think adding crutches and wheelchairs for temporary injuries would already be revolutionary and take a lot of work to program (e.g. all the new animations and needed items like ramps and lifts for stairs/bathtubs). Everything else (especially mental illnesses) seem so far out of reach to me.
Grant said they won't make people pay for the disabilities, so they would have to put all this effort into it for a free patch. It doesn't give me a good feeling tbh :/
That means if in a patch, the townies would have these disabilities? Because every time they patch the base they ruin it.
ETA: I will just add this here since I've said so much in this thread. If they just add a wheelchair, and don't make the Sim struggle to get to point A from B but make it motorized that would be so freaking shallow. There is no respectful way to portray a disability in this game. They can't even reflect properly SIms emotions imagine a token Sim in a wheelchair that can move around as fast a Sim who can walk. How shallow would that be? ETA: And what happens? Does the Sim have to earn some money to be able to afford a motorized wheelchair? See where this goes? It's not something I ever want them to profit from. ETA: Then what? A big press release of how The Sims have added disablities and get them more players like they did the token gender patch? It's all wrong.
ETA: And this needs to be said, if they add shallow disabled Sims where are the religious Sims. How far do they want to go with their inclusiveness? You can't cater to one and leave out others Maxis or you become a hypocrite. ETA: That's why Parody is your safest format.
