There's a nightlight in the lights that prevents monsters and you can get a teen+ sim to spray all the beds in the room before the kids go to bed as well
I've tried doing that but it seems they keep showing up later anyway :|
Do you keep the nightlight on, or do you turn it off? Turning it off will deactivate it's monster scaring powers. It only works while it's on. - Hello
This link explains about the monsters under the bed and describes ways to prevent them appearing.

Why did Maxis add the monsters under the bed anyway? Did they think it would be cute or something? Because all it serves as is a major plum-off every time the same Sim wakes up and cries about it to another Sim that's trying to sleep. This franchise has turned to plum ever since Maxis took ownership of TS3. I loved TS3, but TS4 was a MAJOR step back from its predecessor.
They added it, because children lack depth. They are plain boring along with teens. Plus, it came with kids room stuff. Just buy the nightlight and keep it on at night. You would be amazed how many kids are actually scared of monsters in closets, beds toilets and etc, so I don't think they thought it was "cute"."X_SimShady_X;14992523" wrote:

I hate to break this to you but Maxis is the original development company of The Sims."kremesch73;14992738" wrote:

Yes and I am always thinking that they use Maxis as a logo now and the real Maxis team has long been gone."gamekitten;14992741" wrote:

They are long gone. Only a small remnant of them remains. Do they still use the logo? I thought the studio's name was changed to something like SimsStudio, or something like that. Rod Humble was the one who took over for S3 from Will Wright. That much I know.- At least they added a way to keep the monsters away for those who dislike them, always hate when things get patched in and have no way of being optional without a mod.

-points to bottom of thread page- They still use it. I could say what I think about why they still use it.. but I will restrain myself. If I remember right (too hot to sleep and I am sleepy) they took up using it again in Sims 3.
