Disappearing Tea Sets

Here's my suggestion:
Place a new tea set on the counter, make some tea, don't drink it.
And then sit there for several sim hours staring at the tea set (making sure to never take your eyes off of it) and wait to see if your maid (or some other sim) comes along and:
a) steals it
b) tosses it in the garbage
c) feeds it to their pet cowplant
d) gets abducted from an overhead alien ship
