Further, I would have thought they’d have you audition for a tv show, then have you filming every day over the next few days. A movie even longer. To me that solves the issue of the huge gap between gigs and also makes it more realistic. ...
This would have been so great, and more realistic, getting a gig lasting for several days.
In RL actors are more like freelance workers, normally not knowing how much work they will have ahead in time, I'm sorta into it myself and it's always very difficult to plan stuff like going away, that might come in the way for a future job. So I have no problem with my sim needing to find new gigs constantly, that's how it is. But, in RL you have agents or casters who actually contact you without advertising first. So - another solution to having too few gigs, could be that the Agent contacted your sim directly with a random offer every now and then. Any actor (even an extra) at a certain level will get such offers without applying.
Also, I don't find the Fame level to have much impact at all on what you get paid? In RL fame would open doors. Maybe the career level is meant to reflect the fame level...
My Actors make money on other efforts. Media production and writing on the side, not sure if you can be a Stylist without actually quit the Acting job. With City Living they can build an Internet account and gather followers and (probably) benefit from their fame, without signing up for it as a career.
