Distinguished degrees

How did you manage to actually get this and not just an honor one? I even have raised a teen, I made in CAS, got her to straight A student then had her birthday, actual party and she had her skills and was approved for program but no distinguished degree at graduation.

I had her do all her homework, stay on top of having projects or papers done quickly, study from appropriate book for program, especially before class. What am I doing wrong? Makes me not want to play uni and I was very excited about it. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Help please, I'd love to use that town again, and the degree programs.
  • You have to have registered for a Distinguished Degree when you first enroll into University. Each University will specialise in certain facets, and you can tell if these are distinguishable by the bronze marker, or medal, next to the thumbnail for the degree.

Depending on the level of your sims skills at the time of their application they may have not had high enough skills to get them into a distinguishable degree. Most of my sims that have had gone to study a Distinguished Degree have usually had level 7+ in the skill that related to that degree.

Hope that helps, but well done on getting honours, your Sim must have worked really hard to get it! ?
  • Some of my sims were not accepted for the university where their wanted degree was distinguished. So they started at the other university, and after 1 or 2 terms they were able to switch to the better universe for that class. You can switch university between terms. Might need to read up a little though, more than the minimum, to get accepted.
  • If you have a teen you ultimately want to be the Private Attorney, start working on the Charisma and Writing skills too. Get them as high as you can before you even apply to Uni (I think someone mentioned level 7). Paired with good grades as a teen you should be accepted for the Language & Literature Distinguished Degree program at Britechester.

Carl's has a detailed guide on how to get into the distinguished programs: https://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/expansionpacks/discoveruniversity/degrees.php

Just click on the link for each degree. It's based on probability, with a base chance of 25%. There are several factors that act as multipliers for the probability (with some diminishing your chances, like being a C or D student in high school.)
  • Yeah I looked at that guide, she was an A student, had maxed skills but still only got honors and started at level 4 in career, just don't know where I messed up, unless it's that traits part bc some traits can count towards points too, thanks all for help
  • I've made a new teen now see what happens when I can age her up after she gets A's
  • My new teen has developed a relationship with another sim, I am not wondering whether I break them up so she can focus on her school work ( I really want a distinguished degree) or keep them together and hope for the best and do my best to make her study as much as possible, they really seem so happy, its Wolfgang Munch and he is always around, she did turn him into a vampire and he has been so nice to her
