I personally don't think so, I've lived in a few houses that had what we call a "Galley Kitchen", so that's what your kitchen now appears to be, just a cooking area with no eating area. Is there enough room for 2 sims to be working on the different counters at the same time?
There were a few free counters so multiple sims can cook at the same time, the dining space is still there. However i didn't save it and went back to how it looks in the first picture in my opening post.
