I really like the look of the original version of the house better than the the new one, the flow and decor are more satisfying to the eye. I agree about the cramped feeling in the new one.
It's your sim house and if you're tired of looking at the old house go for the new one, change is good.

I wouldn't mind snagging a gallery download of the original version, you did a nice job with it.
