- thefirsttemplarRising ScoutI'm not planning to ever buy a new pack again for Sims 4 unless it is occult stuff because the game is so boring.
And good occult stuff, that dumb paranormal stuff pack won't cut it with the silly ghosts and STILL not a single descent clothing item added for men. Seriously, stop ignoring men and occult stuff!
Considering their direction, I don't think I'd be interested in Sims 5 at all. Not until it has a good amount of occult stuff and has fixed the lack of personality.
And then still a big if because well, it's EA. They know little about making video games and should just leave it to the companies that actually know what they are doing and they should just stick to publishing. - GrumpyGlowfishSeasoned NewcomerI'm always for more occult content, but have resorted to finding it in the little things whenever there's not a new life state on the horizon. This is something I started doing while I was desperately waiting for witches and constantly playing as "fake witches" who would use voodoo dolls, science potions, Selvadoradian artefacts and other pre-existing borderline supernatural features to emulate magic.
It may be less obvious nowadays because not every EP comes with a new occult life state as they did in TS2, but there's actually a surprising amount of supernatural content to be discovered even in many of the so-called realism packs. Bust the Dust was expected to be realistic by giving players more household chores, but real dust bunnies don't give you money. And now look at what the golden and evil chickens can do in Cottage Living.
We haven't had a new occult life state since 2019 (unless you count DU's servos), but we got three in that year alone: mother plant zombies, mermaids, and spellcasters. Granted, the former two don't hold a candle to the latter in terms of gameplay and depth, but it's something that I as an occult player enjoy. So I'm not really sure how to answer the question of this thread. As I said, I always want more occult content, but at the same time I think there's already much more of it in the game than even occult players realise... - thefirsttemplarRising ScoutEven the spellcasters are terrible compared to Sims 1, 2 and 3 though.
I often even forget that the sim who maxed out all spells and learned all alchemy is a mage. She never does anything with it on her own and just wants to do the same generic boring stuff as every other sim.
Can't even dress her like a mage because they couldn't even be bothered to put mage outfits in a mage expansion. Not really much for furniture either.
The Sims 4 seriously needs a full supernatural pack like Sims 3 supernatural. Anyone who doesn't like supernatural could just not buy it. But it seems many are in the habit of buying it, and then complain about occult stuff.
That's like buying Mortal kombat and complain about the violence. - JooleeyuhNew Vanguard"Demanding content?" Really?
- I say, "eh," solely because aside from small things from Game Changers, I do not see EA changing anything not of their own accord. They always have and always will do their own thing, whether it makes sense to us or not. (I will note here that they have for potential and actual controversies, but I personally do not want to compare getting extra DLC I want in a game to representation and more.)
The hidden player data EA collects is an interesting point, and we really have no idea of the sales figures of each pack, too, but that means nothing without the info. For all we know occult players are a silent majority, considering it was said Generations in 3 did not sell well and that was a potential reason against making another. Batuu might even be the best selling pack to date; no one (outside of EA) knows. Debating which playstyle is the majority or the minority is similarly pointless because there is simply no way to actually know without the data. So unfortunately moot, and we do not even know if they truly take this into account rather than say raw sales data, focus groups, or employee pitches.
So, I am not sure exactly what you mean by more vocal, but if you mean spamming social media and the livestreams, etc., then no. I will not do that at all. I will always say that I would like more, but *shrug* even if the squeaky wheel gets greased EA has the choice to ignore the minor inconvenience or to actually acquire grease. I suspect between the two, they will lean into the former. Why? There is far more than one squeaky wheel and each needs a different type of grease. That is a headache one shopping trip will not fix, so why go out of your way? - Karamazov123Seasoned Hotshot

"Look, if you shill for dragons, we'll shill for a blue suburban pack." - jennyarcaSeasoned NoviceI don’t understand why people are complaining occults make the game unrealistic…the reason why you’re playing the game is just a way to escape from reality
Even though there is occults in the game, you can ignore them and treat them as normal human
Just like some Japanese anime, most of the time the occults in the anime are having normal life like you and me:
Spellcasters
Vampires
Mermaids
Aliens - BabykittyjadeRising ObserverOne thing I've learned through out life's journey is that there is no "end" to patience. It's impossible for it to run out or it was never patience in the first place. I will keep waiting patiently for more occults ? That said, I don't believe in rioting. Seems in bad taste and it's not a healthy or productive way of getting what you want.
However, I do think there is an imbalance here. The realism players are always screaming at the top of their lungs and getting what they want because of it. While us occult players for some reason are pretty chill and quiet. I do think more of us need to speak up in a kind and respectful manner, so they know there are tons of occult players too.
Another thing I'm feeling hopeful for is the new lot challenge system. If the devs put this to good use we could have THE KRAKEN!!, ZOMBIES!!!, MOON PHASES, BURGERLERS, and all kind of exciting content in peace without someone screaming to nerf it. They just have to make it a lot challenge/trait. Which is essentially an in game toggle and we can be left in peace to have actual fun with this game? would love to have have zombies rising to break in my lot challenge. And ways to barricade them out.
I'm hoping they do the older stuff too eventually like break ins? - Fluteline24New Spectator

Any riot, protest, or complaining that occurs on the forum is meaningless. It will only matter if you do it on Twitter. Take your energy there; no one is home here. Occasionally the gardener stops by, but that's it.
Twitter isn't the only place to get heard. If anything it is easily gets overridden with fighting there. So no, I will avoid that toxic cesspool of teenagers and baby boomers.

No, Twitter isn't the only place to be heard. It's my opinion that the forums are the least impactful arena to create a ripple, that's all. The engagement is higher in other arenas, including Twitter. By the way, I agree with you that it is a toxic cesspool. I only suggested it because I don't want to have the forums flooded with another occult/realism conniption fit, from both sides, over who should get the next new goodies. The last one was more than enough for me.
For what it's worth, I actually believe @Gordy is right. I would include a few other game changers in with it, but those millions of followers have weight.
