Do sims behave differently after the gender preference update?

For me my sims’ preferences seem to have automatically updated - one of my sims (female with the in-game settings but they are non-binary) has only dated women and after the update came out I went into CAS to change their sexual orientation settings to only being attracted to women and it had already set the romantic attraction to women only. Anyone know if there is something automatic behind the sexuality update (like the NPC autonomy update)?
