Do Sims recognize what counts as a Kitchen/Bathroom/Bedroom for renovations?

I finally caved and bought Dream Home Decorator (so far I think it su.cks, worse than Journey to Batuu, at least that worked) but one thing I've noticed is that I routinely get no pay and a reputation...

If there were a way for the game to tell what kind of room a particular room is, there'd be no need for mods like "Don't prepare food where you angry poop" and its sister, "Don't wash dishes where you angry poop." I've seen several youtube videos of people renovating the wrong room and still getting rave reviews.

It would be great if this were fixed. I'm not sure it can be.
