You only turn if you drink their blood, unless there is a small chance for you to turn if you get bitten (I don't think you can, or else they would repeat the same mistake of TS3), my sim get attacked was all because I read about the vampire lore, so if you don't research about it I believe that you will be fine, just like I was. I recommend for you try harvest garlics and create the protection that comes with the vampire lore lv8 (they raise super fast).

Get the expansion pack, if you don't mess up with the vampires you should be fine.
