I've added my simself and a few Maxis Gallery households to my base save. I didn't like the Newbie family Maxis made for TS4 so I ended up remaking them from scratch (even Buddy right down to the spots). For the most part I let MCCC pull from my library to populate the world with Gallery sims others have made. It's really spoiled me because I hate seeing random townies the game spits out.
