Do you even lift, bro?
One of the most alarming things for me when this game first came out was how quickly all of my played Sims got rather ... large. I mean, no matter what they did all of my sims gained a lot of weight...

Practically all my sims end up doing the fitness aspiration at some point. I'm quite blimpy myself, so don't want my sims to be. I just don't like my girls to end up too muscular, it doesn't look good on them. Home gyms are very common in my houses.
I like to visit the gym with my sims rather than use a home gym, because it helps keep unplayed townies fit too. The gym always fills up with unplayed sims if I bring a sim there during the day, and the most popular activities for unplayed sims is the treadmill and boxing bag. The weight lifting barely gets touched in comparison by autonomy. Helps keep unplayed sims fit without bulking them up.
I'm at the gym right now with a sim and every single treadmill is in use (8 total), 3 out of 4 boxing bags are in use, 5 sims are playing basketball, and 2 are swimming in the pool. In comparison, only 1 is on a weight machine.
That and I just like smaller homes and apartments the most for my played sims, so I rarely have room for a home gym.
