Do you feel the IL EP disappointed you?

The world(including water activities of course) is by far my favorite place to actually play the game. I get that the negative crew is out in force, but I'm having fun. I could play IP in sims 3 if I wanted, but I click play on Sims 4 instead.

If you feel this EP disappointed you, please list ONE thing that you either expected, or one thing that disappointed you the most of this EP.

So many things, but if I'm being honest the constant rabbit holes (snorkeling, diving, life guard, and of course being unable to view under the water as it too is a rabbit hole!) Are the most disappointing.
Very sad :(

On a positive note, the scenery and environmental effects are stunning so that's a plus & something done well.

Too many rabbit holes, I was disappointed that Deep Diving was a rabbit hole with barely any gameplay or exploration.

For those reasons, I want to mobilize and constructively criticize this EP so that the sims team hopefully considers adding items we so dearly miss, or just makes this pack better through patches, or for the next EP we provide examples of how to add more depth to the gameplay so that not so many of us feel disappointed.

I am seriously interested in what the overall answer/consensus is for this EP and hopefully we can get a better picture of the satisfaction with this EP.

I feel like if there’s enough of us, and we respectfully and cohesively state the main reason we feel the way we feel, we might hopefully get what we ask for :)

If not, we can only dream, or in our case, unhappily and disappointedly Sim (or if you’re really unhappy not Sim)!

I love the setting (Oceania is far more interesting than the Caribbean) I LOVE the buy and build items (it has inspired me to build my first house in years), i love love love the mermaids, the world is the most gorgeous of all worlds in all sims games, it is fairly well researched and respectful of the cultures it draws inspiration from, I love the environmental focus, and yes, I find the added gameplay interesting and fulfilling.

This EP doesn’t have enough content to be an EP period.

I’m also bothered by the lack of depth here, clear as, well, water lol Sims don’t build bad looking sand sculptures, there’s no way of opening the chest of the wrecked ship, the chest you get with the scuba diving career can’t be used to store things, the completion of the cave mural doesn’t reward the player in any way, mermaids can’t feed off of kelp, mermaids can’t sleep underwater, there’s no special mermaid bassinet, snorkeling doesn’t give sims any collectibles or fish, there isn’t a good enough variety of collectibles you always get the same things on land or on the rabbit holes.

They recycled animations from previous packs for their main “culture” feature, scuba diving is a rabbit hole, all 3 part time jobs are rabbit holes, there’s also the cave rabbit hole, the waterfall woohoo animation is recycled, there’s only two boat types and neither can have more than 1 sim and no new skills were added. And once again they made a lot trait exclusive to certain lots which further confines my freedom of changing the worlds.

Style over substance, lack of any new activities, way too many rabbit holes and 99% of the game play is restricted to one world. It’s 40 bucks to swim in the ocean.

I wouldn't say it "disappointed" me

since it has majorly improved my storytelling and i love the features it has

volcano! waterfall! island spirits! elementals! sea threats! floaties! aquazips! dolphins! sea creatures!

and i feel like i have so much left to do still unlike with some of the other eps

the world is really beautiful too especially MPA area and it feels so open even if ts4 has no open world so its like perfect balance for me to have that water area

the village sort of annoys me though because of the fx houses I really really really wanted to live in that yellow house but it was fx house and now I really don't have anywhere to build one of those without it looking dumb :confused:

i would also have liked more "on land" lots for the village in general instead of beach side because building on water just seems too crowded for me there

I don't deny I would have loved to have at least 1 underwater lot for mermaids too somewhere and I am greatly missing hammocks and surfing

especially because there is unfinished hammock in the game files and surfboard sign in decoration though? so i just feel like those should have been there but they just gave up adding it? :confused:

also I'm greatly missing hula and don't really understand why they put fire dance
and left out hula that hardly can be part of other pack :confused: especially because fire dance is already it gtg and now it feels like double pay for me

on scuba diving

I personally don't care tbh
like i only want mermaids to have underwater lot to live i dont care for the scuba diving part of it as much i never did it in ts3 either

house boats
never a big fan of them in first place i dont like being restricted building on platform like that and never used them for real

hotels
don't bring them to my paradise find them a more suitable world tbh that would have ruined my island vibes with tourists and all

also would love if they applied the active water area for windenburg and brindleton bay islands because its just sad I can't use those as diff type of islands to have island life on

I voted "No", but I was in two minds about which option to choose. I'm personally enjoying this EP more than I ever enjoyed any Sims 4 content before. It finally made The Sims 4 click for me.
I play The Sims to relax at the end of a work day, so it's important for me to play in a beautiful setting, and like Beardedgeek , I love the Polynesian setting of IL. I'm also enjoying the conservationist career as much as I have enjoyed my favourite Sims 3 career, firefighter. But I do agree that an EP should have more content.

Basically, to me this EP is like a delicious chocolate cake that I'm enjoying every bit of, but for the price paid it should have been larger.

Yes, it adds effectively nothing to the game apart from one pretty world.

The diving and lifeguard careers are rabbit holes. The cave is a rabbit hole- why am I playing text adventure games in 2019 again?
Mermaids have no progression system and there are no new systems in place (running hotels just an example) to provide actual gameplay based on those systems. So in essence, once you've had a swim or two there's effectively not much else to do.

I voted "Yes", even though I was too close to choosing the "No" option. I don't want to be perceived as negative, so let me state first that I absolutely love the world and the vibe of serenity it emits. I love the suntanning option, the floaters, the fact that dogs can swim in the ocean, and how everything does feel peaceful.

The two main reasons for my disappointment are mermaids (I'd love it if they had a power system like vampires do) and the scuba diving. I know that the budget may not have allowed a full view of what's underwater, but we get a glimpse when we choose the first person mode. I'd like to see some variety there. But other than that, I've been really enjoying the pack and, as a Greek, I can finally make some nice Greek houses by the water.
