Until recently, it was a losing battle. So many ugly Sims, with so many weird names. A few Sims I overhauled back when I was still doing that I saved to my gallery and occasionally play.
MCCC is now set to draw townies from my gallery/tray; either I myself created or downloaded from the gallery. However, there's still a few issues. One, I missed deleting few Sims in my gallery that were heavy on CC and used custom skins. Some looked decent, even without it; others required heavy overhauling to at least try to look what they're supposed to. Sometimes, the game changes them into occults, and I have to change that; unless it's the Maxis interpretation of Pol. Tech Smith from TS2; who usually gets spawned as a human (and I have to make him an alien). Secondly, there are prototype Sims from very old saves that look nothing like what they're supposed to. I often delete those, or if possible, change their name. And then, I decided to let MCCC randomize the clothing when they were spawned. In many cases, "GAH, MY EYES IT BURNS"; thus I have to redress them.
However, there has been the occasional townie that looked decent, and only needed an overhaul to their clothing.
