@Midevil_Chaos Hello! First, allow me to say that I love this thread. Thanks so much for starting it. It's really nice to see how others like to play.
Whenever I start a new game, I always play a character that is loosely based on myself. I have a "base" save which includes a bunch of households and lots I've created; mostly they comprise a gay community for Jona to interact with. Jona usually starts as a single sim, although I sometimes start with a household based on my family. I haven't yet played a game that includes my extended family but maybe some day. My dad passed away in 2020, not long before I started playing, and it has been a great comfort having him in my game at times. It might sound a little silly but it's nice to know that I can still see him whenever I want, even though I know it's not real.
Jona is always a musician and most often becomes a celebrity. This is because becoming a performer was my aspiration when I was young, before life got in the way. lol It's fun to see how things play out for him. Then I usually just play through the legacy; his kids and their kids and so on (until I'm ready to start over haha)
Sometimes, when I am inspired to create a new lot, I will create a family to go with it. However, I don't normally play them for long. They usually just become a part of Jona's world. :-)
The great thing about this game is that there is no right or wrong way to play. Thanks again for starting this thread! Happy Simming!
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@JonaO703 That is such a beautiful idea for lost loved ones to inspire characters in the game. I've always used it through loss as a distraction and very much after losing my parents too. I started playing Sims 1, then Bustin Out at about the time of trying to cope with the loss of my dad. I think I threw myself into it at the time.
When I lost my Labrador I added Cat's and Dogs and built my dog rescue as a little tribute to him because he was taken from a household that mistreated him as a pup. I couldn't bring myself to add him but it was very comforting building the rescue and creating a vet Sim to care for the town's strays.
It's one reason that this remains my favourite game.. despite occasionally raging at bugs (a lot).
I hope your idea gives other players some inspiration too.🥰 - Midevil_Chaos2 years agoSeasoned Veteran
Thanks! :D That's cool.
However, I am sorry to hear about your dad. My parents are getting there, as they are older and we never know what can happen. I can't imagine what it would be like to be without them ☹️
