Do You Own Outdoor Retreat?

If not, will you be buying it because it ties in to JA?

  • Yes. The tent, cooler, and other items are useful even without visiting Granite Falls, especially as others have mentioned for Rags to Riches type play. I hadn't played in Granite Falls much until a sim was assigned the Outdoor Enthusiast aspiration. It's a very relaxing environment, and I found I enjoy taking my sims there, even if for just 1-2 sim days.

No, but I am wondering whether I should get it now, because I badly want tents for JA and the herbalism skill would be useful too. I'm just not sure whether it would really worth it. It seems an awful lot to pay for a tent and a skill! (It reminds me a little of the Perfect Patio stuff pack, which I bought solely for the hot tubs and then was bitterly disappointed when I got them.) So I'll try to hold out for a bit longer, although I can see myself caving in the end.

Unless your Sim really feels like roughing it, you won't need OR. A tent isn't really necessary for sleeping. There's the bushes to sleep in, I believe, or the villas. The temple isn't very big. So, if the Sims go in all topped up in their needs, they should be okay with some insect repellent, poison antidotes, medicine, and some waterfalls in a bottle. I believe that all of those things can be purchased in JA or the base game.

It seems like you'll still be able to check JA out without having to invest more. If you really want the tent and the herbalism, try to hold out for a sale? :)

Good advice - thank you. I realise that tents are not really necessary for JA - for me, it would be more about creating the look. I agree that the sensible thing would be to wait for a sale, although I suspect that OR is probably the last pack that will come on sale now, because of the renewed interest. Or maybe it would be the smart thing for EA to do? I dunno.

I own it and I do enjoy sending my families there on occasion. There is some beautiful scenery there and I can hardly wait until seasons arrive and we can have winter and fall there! My only (minor) complaint about it is that we can't just do day hikes. There are times when I just want to send my sim there to hike and maybe fish for a bit and I can't unless I rent a space. I haven't tried for a while but I'm hoping someday they update it.

They fixed the hiking issue. I'm able to do it in Granite Falls.

How do you visit GF without renting on a lot?
  • I have it and I love it...it's just too bad my one Sim always cries when I send he and his husband there. Granted he gets over it, but ugh. Hopefully he'll like the jungle a little better.
