I voted "yes" because I almost always have the sound on in Live mode. The sound cues are useful to me, and the game is more immersive with sound.
When I'm in CAS, I'll usually mute the sound, but I turn it on while I'm creating the Sim's voice. I sometimes have the sound off during Build mode.
