I don;t have clutter in my real house because it is dust collectors and I have to live in dust free environment with air purifiers and such - so I naturally do not have clutter in my Sims houses. To me houses free of clutter looks normal as I am so used to that. Most I put in houses is plants as plants clean the air so I use a fair amount of plants in the game and lots of windows no carpets - usually hardwood floors or tiles or stone. Sometimes a few pictures but not a lot. I guess most folks here would call it rather bland but it is what I am use to now a days so I hardly notice. LOL.
I used to decorate like many of you do but had to get out of that habit. Ironically my pc could handle anything, it's me that can't. So you adjust even in game.
If we ever get witches I may have a harder time with clutter - I fear as I've never seen a witches house clutterless. LOL.
