Do you put “rules” on yourself?

There are some things that I just have to keep myself from doing otherwise I won't have any fun. I don't allow my vampire to use plasma packs or plasma fruit, for example. It makes it way too easy. I don't use money cheats on a sim that I plan to actually play with. My painters aren't allowed to sell their paintings and my writers aren't allowed to publish their books. The game has many exploits, I try not to take advantage of anything that seems unorthodox.

Of course, these are all loose rules. If I really feel like doing something I will do it anyway without regret.

Definitely. I play legacies and challenges exactly following the rules. I never let any of my sims use cheats - I do not use cheats of any kind in my game - my sims have to earn what they get - with one exception - when a child grows up and moves out I have mom and dad give them each 2 of those expensive violins - so when they move they have money to start their first house with that they can sell.

Also if a sim dies before their time - in other words before they are of old age - I bring them back. I want every one of my Sims to have a full long life - (it's a personal thing with me - so it is the only thing I do cheat is death).

I only have one rule but it's more a thing I want to do. I have large expanded families, like for example 7 siblings who already have families on their own and I play rotational to make sure all the siblings age up in the correct order they were born ? if one dies of old age and the other is still 3 days YA, I could not handle.

Oh I have this rule as well.

I have some “house rules” that I like to follow for a more random and interesting game. For example, I force myself to follow my sims’ whims. I also take measures to limit the amount of money my sims have.

I have at least two I can think of on the spot, but not many others.
1. No cheating unless I feel it’s necessary.
2. No marrying cousins

Okay I've waited for this kind of poll!

I feel kind of crazy in saying this but the way I play may seem a bit off. So just to clarify since I got TS4 on PS4 a little over a year ago I have managed to acquire all the packs that have been released. But I have barely scratched the surface because "the story" hasn't unfolded that way yet.

For instance
- I use the help of a randomizer app to help add some spice into my game and because of that I started Sims in the business career for the first time (Gen 2 Sims in my neighborhood) and one of those Sims also started the Detective Active Career which I find really fun!
- I don't have any actors/actresses yet
- None of my active Sims are Vampires yet but it could happen cause game seems to generate those NPC's all the time. Same with aliens.
- No one owns a restaurant even though I have Dine Out. Only one Sim owns a retail business(a Bakery)
- No one has a Vet Clinic yet but one of my Sims grew up and rolled it as their Career Choice thanks to the randomizer.
- I've never had any Sims make Ice Cream or Popcorn.
- No one has even been to StrangerVille yet or started a Jungle Adventure.

I know this is all crazy but I guess I like to experience it when the time feels right. Without forcing it. Although I admit not making Ice Cream or Popcorn is kind of silly ?

I usually play a challenge so since this isn't counting that my normal play would have rules but my rotational play that I do besides the challenge doesn't with the exception of some families doing some don't. Like I play 20 + different families in my rotational play. I wanted it to seem realistic so I created some is being really rich Ellis start and son is being really poor. My poor Sims I wanted it to seem realistic so I created some is being really rich Ellis start and son is being really poor. My poor Sims who are struggling I wouldn't cheat their needs I wanted it to seem realistic so I created some is being really rich at the s start and some asbeing really poor. My poor Sims who are struggling I wouldn't cheat their money but the rich ones I do. If I want to seem to have an easy life I will cheat their needs, if I want them to have a hard life I wont. It's all about keeping it realistic to the storylines I'm creating and having a diverse community of Lifestyle types.

The only one rule I have for myself is no money cheats. I am trying to implement not changing the appearance of any off-spring (except for adding skin details) though.

I also got ts4 a little over a year ago on console & have lots of rules as well! I’ve been waiting for this poll because I feel like I play really unique as well, so I just made it ?
