- GrumpyGlowfishSeasoned NewcomerThe whole thing seems unnecessary to me. In a game that needs so many other things so much more (like bug fixes), changing the looks and only the looks of some premades seems like a waste of developer time. Everybody can go into CAS and change the Goths if they like, but not everybody can fix the game's other problems. And before someone tells me that the people responsible for these updates probably aren't the same ones doing the quality testing - yeah, I know, because this game doesn't have quality testing.
I already posted this in another thread, to which someone replied that it was done to address the longstanding issue of Bella being whitewashed in TS4, and I understand that. But they didn't just change her skintone, they changed everything, after eight years of older players getting accustomed to the new Bella and her family, and newer players only knowing this version of them to begin with. It's like watching a TV series for years and suddenly some actors get replaced for no reason.
Adding proper hot and cold outfits was definitely needed, and will be needed for any other pre-Seasons premades they're going to update in the future, but other than that, I hope those future updates will focus less on hair and clothes and more on things such as likes and dislikes, pronouns, relationships and careers (seriously, not everybody needs to be a cook or a writer, even just the base game has more career options than that). But I also realise this is TS4, a game that has always prioritised style over substance, so I might as well be talking to a brick wall. - WaytoomanyUIDsRising ScoutDefinitely, Mort & Cassie are good, but they did Bella & Alex dirty. Someone on reddit crossbred Classic & New Alex For Science! and someone else Classic & New Bella and they got really good results though, I'm going to try that. And of all the custom Goths out there the only ones I like are Shooby's toonified ones, they feel a great compromise between Sims 2 and 4.
- cyncieSeasoned VeteranI don’t usually play the Goths or most of the townies unless they can be used to make a story point, and then it’s just temporary. In my current save, I am playing a lot of the supernatural premades like Morgyn, Nalani and Caleb, but others just fill out the town so their history and lore don’t really impact my game. I do enjoy seeing them around, though, and it’s going to be a little disconcerting to see a different person wearing the same name showing up in future games. I think a better approach would have been to leave the OG TS4 sims alone and add the updated ones to the gallery for those who were complaining. Chances are those same people are just going to take them into CAS and pile on a bunch of Alpha CC, anyway.
- ThriorTheSecondSeasoned NewcomerNot necessarily poorly done but I do gotta say I don't really understand the point of this. Changing only the looks of premades that have existed since the game launched many many years ago just seems... unnecessary and I'd rather they put their resources into something else.
Even if these new versions were more consistent with older games, TS4 is its' own tittle and has existed for a long time and people have gotten used or even attached to these versions of the characters. And only NOW they suddenly decide to change them and basically force that change on everyone?
I'd rather they update premades to actually reflect on their supposed lore. E.g. Vlad is supposed to be on bad terms with the Vatores, yet in-game he doesn't even freaking know them. I loved how in TS2 there were all these already existing relationships and scenarios, sims whose gameplay actually reflected their bio. Like Daniel Pleasant having an affair with the maid while his daughters were at each other's throats.
Sudden cosmetic changes of characters that have existed for years just seems redundant to me while actual gameplay related changes could add substance. (Though I gotta admit I don't know how well this would work with the relationship culling system but I like the idea for its' added immersion.) - CAPTAIN_NXR7Seasoned Veteran

The Goths were handled fine, imo. I don't fully agree with all of the decisions in the new looks but they're fine. It's a "darned" if they do, darned if they don't kind of situation. They've been chronically criticized for how the premades looked for years so it makes sense that theyd make a promotional campaign for updated looks.
Not everyone is going to agree with the new looks and that's okay. Just find a copy of the old Goths and use those instead.
Why can’t the folks who disagree with the “old Goths” find a copy on the gallery of the “new Goths”? Or better still, create their own Goth make-over if they’re so sure about what they want and how they want it. CAS is right there. Don’t be afraid to use it.
I just don’t get this whole townie update ordeal. It doesn’t make sense to me.
The old Goths are perfect just the way they are. They didn’t need to transition into something they’re not. They’re the TS4 Goths. Not the TS2 Goths. They live in an Alternate Sim reality as someone else already wonderfully stated. A simulation parallel to what all the previous sim games are.
It’s great that we’ve been getting old classics such as Bonehilda and Bag Smacking Crumplebottom later in the game. But we already had the Goths. Should’ve left their poor faces alone! Darn it! ?
Oh well. Here’s me complaining about people complaining. I guess it’s what I do best… - I kinda don't... care...I change them all anyway. If they become a part of my story line they'll get a makeover. To me the originals looked outdated and basic so whether they rolled out a new goth family look or not wouldn't matter to me. I'm gonna do them my way anyway. So for me it was handled just fine. I have every pre made character saved so I can plop them into any game or use the genetics to create new sims etc. Didn't really affect me if I'm honest.
- AnonymousThey handled it poorly. Example: they failed to have the insight to do the obvious testing on Alexander Goth by aging him up to check out how the changed genetics affect his appearance later in life (they spent months working on this).

Honestly Alexender was the worse redesign. His the sims 4 design already look like tsm2 design. Its sad aging him up makes him look like a different character entirely. Also this is my opinion.I do not know why they change his skintone that drastically.Because he is supposed to have skin tone like his dad, and lighter one than his sister.I don't know why they were advent of having the siblings having the same skin tone. When in real life mixed kids can have different skins.
I am glad Casandra's skin tone is darker. - ThriorTheSecondSeasoned Newcomer

Oh dear :D. I really like original TS4 Alexander. He looks distinctive in the similar way Vlad does i.e. in this really "handcrafted" intentional way, that attention was paid to his features. This new one looks more like a townie: a random mix of genetics.
Gotta make sure to save OG Alexander (and the rest of the Goths) to my library. - crocobauraSeasoned Ace
