There is no point in a simulation game if nothing is simulated. If we just want to click and not make the Sim have to do what we have to do then it's no better than any little, cheap, casual, half animated game. I know it can get annoying and time consuming, but that's what made The Sims great..the simulation. If they represent 'life' then they should have to do what I have to do.
ETA: Two pet peeves, a trash bin that makes money. :s and ordering meds from a pc and never having to get off the butt. :s
But isn't that simulation of real life. I rarely visit my pharmacy for a refill of a medication I take daily. I order a 90 day supply online and have it mailed. I do wish sims had mail order for medications rather than just magically appearing in their inventory.
As for the trash can I never use it but maybe some think of it as being paid for recycling.
I meant the fact (like in little casual games) you, the player clicks the pc in TS4, and med appears in inventory. That's not simulated. That is much like a casual game where you the player is clicking and the Sim didn't even have to move. Bad design and different genre in my opinion.
We have to walk to the pc don't we, sit down, log on and order. These Sims don't even have to stop a visit to the toilet while we do this for them. Dragging trash to the can (paid or not) is also a lack of simulation. Good we have a choice but lazyiness on the Sim's part and it is also in line with gamers who prefer less simulation and want the goals and levels instead of simulation which is time consuming. Again, a different genre in this game. ETA:If they kept going with the different genre introduced in this game, then eventually you click something, and the Sim does nothing but your click gets them a buff. I'm sure that type of gameplay would cause some to think where this is all heading one day. A different genre is not a good thing in my eyes. Simulation matters to Simmers.- it depends, really. i might drag an empty plate to the sink if the dishwasher's busy, for example, and dragging food to toddlers is way easier, but i mostly get my sims to do it
- DeKaythePUNKSeasoned VanguardYes cuz it's a waste of time waiting for them to do it unless they are already in the same room.
- I let kids and teens do it when they are scouts or I am working on their character traits. But other than that I usually do it myself and spare my sim of such a mundane task, specially if they host a party or a dinner.
- Only because I can never get it to work for me.
- I drag everything my sims have left out when my sims are asleep or at work. Other times, I’ll just drag everything.
- Absolutely ALL the time.
I just wish I could move more things using Live Drag.
Or, that I could stack dirty dishes myself before putting them in a dishwasher.
Pfft, who starts the dishwasher for a single plate! Me apparantly.
But especially for stuff like Paintings and food, I like dragging those things myself. - janysesNew ObserverA bit of both. I hate it when food spoils, so I usually drag plates to the fridge immediately.

Normally if there are kids in the house I make them clean up as a chore to gain some responsibility. Other than that I normally just put leftovers in the fridge and grab food for toddlers. I make them do the rest really. - I usually have my sims cleanup after themselves. They do it automatically on their own after awhile. I do drag things between my sims inventories and sometimes put food in the fridge.
