Do you use lot traits?
It depends on the lot and household I'm playing but not all the time

I do. I have had mixed results. I made the mistake of turning on the dog-magnet one, whatever it's called, and I had about 4 stray dogs not just come onto the property but go into my house and wander all around, eat my own dog's food, etc. The teen Sim who is a Dog Lover was thrilled but when one of the dogs who was an elder kicked the bucket right there and the whole family got a mourning moodlet for a dog they'd only just met, I decided this was a bad idea and got rid of it.
Conversely, the teen-magnet trait has, as far as I can tell, never done anything. I haven't ever seen a teen walk past the property, and not one has come to the door. So it seems to have little or no effect.
