- Goth5835 years agoSeasoned AceI don't and won't use them. I think they are good for those not familiar with the game to help get you going, but 20+ years in and I think I'm good. I prefer to let my sims do what they want or just control them. On the rare occasion I will create a wheel for my game and use it, but its rare I do that.
- PhantasmKiss5 years agoSeasoned AceThe game gets really boring with every day being work, work-homework, needs, sleep. I get enough of that in real life. Sometimes I turn on whims just for the plum of it, and sometimes I turn it on to decide when my Sims will try for a baby. BTW, waiting for both Sims to want a baby at the same time can take a while!
- NateWhiplash5 years agoSeasoned AceI use whims, but it's a mod with another word before whims

I love whims, I play with them all the time. I just wish they were less "purchase this" and "purchase that". I hate materialism. I also wish we got more whims in general. I haven't notice a new one for ages. Which is kind of disappointing.
I would like to have whims based on traits, likes, skills and most importantly relationships.
I agree with this point of view and is exactly my wish for whims as the teams do more refreshes on packs from the past. - cheekyimp5 years agoRising HotshotI use them, but most of the time forget they are there because they are too generic, wish they were more tailored to specific traits. I used to like the wants/fears system, that made much more of an impact on my sims, try for a baby etc doing things like spend x simoleans or buy a hottub is meaningless.
- mariefoxprice835 years agoSeasoned AceI always use whims but I wish they were better linked to a sim's traits.
- TibbyWee5 years agoRising AdventurerThe whims in this game are absolutely AWFUL. I try to use them, and even with mods, its's not enough. The whim system needs an entire overhaul, we need an actual want system like TS2 or TS3.
- 83bienchen5 years agoSeasoned AceOne of the worst issue with whims is that pinning whims doesn't work. Every other day, whims will reroll despite being pinned. It's impossible to even update the whim system to something meaningful while this issue persists.

This was as serious part of the first game; it was a pretty forceful jab against materialism and consumerism. That... disappeared in the later games. - Sharooonia5 years agoSeasoned Ace

This has driven me crazy for the longest time, what is the point in me locking in important whims that can take a while to achieve when they just unlock and vanish? It ruins the game for me because my game play style is heavily driven by whims, I use them to guide me in what my sims want in their lives.
