In my game Vlad has a long term lover that also manages the house businesses but otherwise not really. Each major vampire group has a house. Vlad is the nominal leader of the overall government (for vampires) in my game, but was mostly selected because he's not too medelsom and leaves others alone.
Each house has a certain set of traits and a sphere of influence that they are part of. There are rules that strictly bind their society together that have made my vampires fun to rotate through, and I have one vampire that doles out punishment, but can't play in politics or deceive while playing his role (Caleb).
I haven't tried the houses out yet, sounds like a lot of fun. I do have a vampire sim that I play with but she lives in the city with her twin sister.
