I like them, but I've rarely encountered any of them. I really miss more of these silly quirky things in The Sims 4. I was watching someone play The Sims 2 and one of their sims had a breakdown because of their failing aspiration. I miss crazy things like that!
Oh God, that was one of my favorite things to see in 2! Then the psychiatrist would pick them up and sort of encourage them to back to normal (what counts as normal for them). He was cute in a way. <3
I'm in the middle, to be honest. One hand, it adds a bit of drama/quirkiness that are lacking in some areas, on the other, the random 'death calls' which can lead to the Sad emotion getting stacked can get plum annoying. On a different hand entirely, I'm a bit disappointed over the fact that it's quite difficult for my sims to die from emotions - even weather-related deaths have yet to happen. My sim once got struck by lightning but lo and behold was able to (albeit jittery and smokey) walk back home fine.
Not saying that every hit should be fatal, but it would be interesting to see them maybe unconscious for like thirty minutes in-game before getting up. It takes them hours even if I manage to do so without cheats for a story. As much as I love seeing old Grim stroll in with his equally awesome theme music and horrifying Ipad, they rarely die from 'natural' causes... Er, emotions. I like it when the deaths are spontaneous, because it's relatively easy to calm them down in my experience.
Yes, I did like aspiration failure in TS2.
It kind of made them feel more alive, like there were things that they really cared about.
