Absolutely! As many have mentioned here the Simple Living trait is a great enhancer for any lot. Even if you don't garden, it forces you to shop for everything and adds a degree of realism and difficulty to your game.
Strangerville is a great spot for ranches--I have a couple of ranches there with cows.
Sulani as others have mentioned is a natural spot for chickens. Anyone that has ever been to Hawaii will tell you there are chickens and roosters everywhere.
I play very realistically and most of my sims live in Willow Creek, San Myshuno, or Newcrest so don't do too much animal raising (though my legacies always have a small garden in their yard). But I still place the farmer's market booth in at least one community lot in all my regions so that my sims can buy and sell produce even if they're not in Henford.
