Does default cc skin work with Island Living?

It hasn’t with mine. I had one of my dark skin Sims tan just to see if it would work for her, but it didn’t. It’s disappointing, but the Sims team didn’t add a skin tone anywhere near the one I wanted for her, and they made the ones we do have look weird/ashy that I have to fix with overlays. Tans do work with overlays though.

Defaults though tend to create issues though over all other skins eventually so it is best to always get an update to the newest patch level.

@HillyBeth I noticed later that it worked for me too, I saw the bikini marks! I guess my sim needed a little more time under the sun and I was too impatient! <(´v`' )

LOL. Good you got them working. When I used CC and mods in past games I almost always chose defaults but every patch either turned my sim tar black or something weird. So I waited for each game to be done with patches to finally add CC and defaults. The only CC I have in Sims 3 is default eyes and skins - but they were after the game was finished. Sims 2 has tons. None in Sims 4 til it's done.

Where is your default from? i'm having a hard time find one that does allow tans and sunburns
