Does it amaze anybody else how much CC/creators there are?

So I went looking for a certain hair style (still haven't found it) and one thing lead to another, and then about 100 new hairs in my hair CC folder (I don't use them all I just...uh collect for future use lol...maybe...) and well I had to stop because I just kept finding more and more stuff.

What really hits me is HOW MUCH CC is created by the community, so much so that I can't imagine most of it ever gets used. True as I just said sometimes it just comes down to finding that one item your looking for or some extra skin colors, ect - but others I know literally dump it all into their mod folder (WHY?!) without probably even remembering what 1/4 of it is. BUT regardless of that - it just blows my mind how much is created for the sims 4.

Not only that but the sheer amount of creators out their in general, I honestly don't know what it takes to make a new hair mesh or clothing piece. I've converted accessories from other games to the Sims, but thats just a process of literally making it work properly (like a necklace) but besides tattoo's I've never created an object from scratch for the Sims games. Yet there are SO many creators that do!

It really blows my mind to be honest, especially how young so many appear to be (early twenties, ect) and I think thats really cool because it shows an interest in computers in a way that didn't exist with people (especially women) when I was growing up (I'm in my late thirties) which honestly I wish did exist because back then, especially when I was in high school in the late 90's most people had zero interest in computers. Or maybe I'm just really old and have no idea that all young people are computer CC wizards now lol.

Still with all the CC that exists and is being created daily, I also wonder - at one point is there just so much that most of it goes un-noticed and unused?

I mean my CC hair folder archive (where I store all the hair I download) has around 350 unique hairs or variations (braids ect) and of that I'm not using one in my current game lol. I mean...ya...

Yet how many hours have I wasted and will I waste downloading more...its like an addiction!

Maybe its the same for creators, once you start creating you just can't stop!

  • Where do you find content? I'd gotten used to MTS for The Sims 2, but there's not a great deal there for TS4.

The easiest site to navigate is the sims resource, but I find most of the content that is posted on their is alpha CC and I prefer Maxis match. For that I use tumblr blogging sites that reblog other sites stuff. Another site I use is pin interest, simple type in sims 4 and say hair and it will show results. Then click that and it shows more results.

Heck even a google search under google images for an item say "sims 4 shoes" will bring in a huge amount of results, and it just keeps snowballing as you follow those results to other creators that highlight OTHER creators. Eventually it will seem like an bottomless pit...
  • It's definitely a little overwhelming just how much is out there. I let my mods folder get out of hand so I've been playing a separate, vanilla game while I sort through my CC. If you want to find more, just go over to the CC section of the forums and you'll see some Maxis Match threads. People share all kinds of info on where to find stuff. They're pretty helpful too if you're looking for something specific.

One of the things I really like about Sims 4 though, is that once you own a bunch of packs, there's a good diversity of CAS outfits and hairs. I've never actually had a vanilla game before, and my play style is rotational colonization with a Fantastical flavor. This means I create a lot of Sims, pretty much fill most of the worlds and neighborhoods with everything from Pirates to Vampires to Elves/faeries, eccentric Sims, etc. So for me to be able to find enough diversity to play a vanilla game is saying lot, lol.

But I still love CC so much. The community is just amazing. ❤️

Most of the CC I DO look for and use is for outfits or a hairstyle that I'm very specific of or looking for. A look if you will or fashion not present in the game. But your right, the base game does provide a lot of options for sure.

The one aspect I've never liked however when it comes to options in the game is hair colors, they feel so limited with everybody having to use the same shade of black, ect. I never realized until I started experimenting with CC recolors how even a lighter shade of different shade of the brown on the same hair style can make two sims look very different and the world more...diverse?

However I doubt they will make a hair color wheel now...although I can dream lol.
