Does the Likes/Dislikes feature hint towards an Attraction System/Romance Pack?

Some of the content that has been released in previous packs is often built on for later gameplay. Such as the oceans being swimmable in Sulani and later swimmable spaces in other worlds or the calendar from seasons being used in the base game but also plan events from the Get Famous expansion pack.

The Likes/Dislikes system could be easily adapted to be used as an attraction type system. A similar drop down panel could be added but instead of liked skills it will be liked traits. Sims could like Ambitious sims or Active sims, even Lazy sims. Traits like "Family Orientated" or "Hates Children" could be liked or disliked as well.

Instead of colours there could be options for eye/ hair colours, maybe body types and the current in game gender options “Physical Frame, Clothing Preference, Pregnancy, and Toilet Use” and even the potential to add more options

Instead of the decor options they could add different fashion style category types. There is also potential to add bonus chemistry points for sims who like the same music and skills, depending whether a sim is attracted to someone similar to them or wants someone different. All the above will be taken into account and give you an attraction level or rating.

Another big element which already has a gameplay base from other packs is a wedding overhaul. Weddings are different in every culture and a nice idea could be to build on the traditions system from Seasons which allows the player to select a certain number of traditions for the wedding event.

The Wedding Event could be split into two parts with a ceremony type event where the the customizable traditions take place. Then the party type part where guests receive food and dance. They could use the Dine Out restaurant serving system to serve food either with waiter or buffet style. The player can select whichever dishes they want served and how it’s served similar to the Dine Out restaurant menu option. There can be customizable traditions taking place here as well.

For a nicely fleshed out Romance pack I would like to see:

Attraction System + Online/App Dating
The above attraction system which is taken into account for online dating, when you create an account on a phone app or computer this will give you options of sims which match your criteria based on your likes/dislikes and allow you to contact them.

Wedding System overhaul + Honeymoon
Weddings system as described above with the option to select a honeymoon destination and go to a rental in a world and perform new romance interactions like "Carry over threshold" or selectable traditions etc.

New Parties and Activities
Bachelor and Bachelorette parties, Bridal Showers which customizable traditions. Love letters etc.

New Interactions + Objects
Slow Dancing, Cuddling on the bed, and all the other missing things players have been asking for. Wedding CAS items like dresses, suits, and rings.

(I totally understand that there are tonnes of Romance game play missing from the game currently but this is just a simple base list I thought of, probably missing a bunch of other stuff that players want.)

A lot of the systems required for this kind of pack are already in place after this last update, which would mean they would only really need to create the new interactions and gives me hope that a Romance Pack is coming, maybe even before the end of this year.

I actually think it's working towards such a system. That being said, that doesn't mean an attraction system will be coming anytime soon. They're always planning ahead for quite some time. And if these preferences were the first step (like they said), we might have to wait for a proper Romance Pack until after they have taken a couple more steps in that direction.

I want an online dating feature as well.
  • I'm hoping the teams are heading in that direction also. Very little has been done to the romance system since Sims4 was released, and it could use some help. It's almost as if romance was not considered to be of much importance as most of the attention was given to YAs, partying and social media. I'd much rather have a well-rounded game where every life stage is represented, rather than the focus being centered only around YAs. Plus it would be nice if our Sims actually remembered they were in a committed relationship and acted accordingly. It's been nearly seven years and I think it's time for Sims4 to grow up a bit. This is a life simulation game, not a celebrity-based reality show where everyone is perfect and has a million followers. And since we already have the reality show vibe, let's see what's next in EA's plan for Sims4. The time has come for that Generations-style pack we've been hearing about for a couple of years; and some of us would really love to see more romance and romantic interactions in our games.
  • I'd actually love this. Attraction system would be nice.

    Food likes.

Dating game show where your sim could be picked or your sim could pick from 3 single Sims.

    New wedding cakes, bouquets, ect.

I love you on the friendly menu permanently.

Sims loving gifts instead of not being happy about them.

    Chocolate box, cards, ect.

Speaking of cuddling in bed we recently got the relax in bed animation in an update. That leaves the possibility that romance options might be added.
