I've had no luck using the portable art gallery. I thought you just placed it in your inventory and could sell anywhere. Was that just for the stream? Do I have to be on a lot? I tried selling in the ...

When you click the Street Gallery item in your inventory, do you have the option to " place in world" ? Try clicking that interaction.
