My standard rags-to-riches strategy is crafting and selling camping mascot statues. For extra challenge I started my Sim on a completely empty lot, furnished by the end of day 1 (from finding and selling collectibles) with a tent, cooler, and shower (a nearby bush served as a toilet).
She earned $200,000 (finishing the money aspiration) by halfway through young adulthood, but getting to a million will take more time, and crafting endlessly is boring (to me, the player). So I have been focusing on earning enough aspiration points to plant money trees. I could join the Scientist career to get the duplicator for the money tree seeds (a strategy I used in another playthrough) but since this isn't a speed run, I don't think I'll go that route. (I don't use cheats or exploits.)
