Once you find them and add them to your inventory the objects are yours, it doesn't matter how you came to posses them. As far as I know it's not possible to sell items if you just place them on the table, they have to go into table inventory first. Also, it's not possible to stock a table if it was already claimed by some other sim. You cannot sell the big furniture items and fridges and stoves on the table, but small inventory items should be no problem, including frogs and harvestables.
