It was? I had the impression that blog entry had her name. Still. I don't think he wrote that alone with the rest of the team not knowing what was being told to the fans after the backlash of no toddlers and pools. They wrote that blog entry to reassure fans and to stop the potential pre-orders cancellations spree. Even if for that they had to blatantly lie. They knew from the start the engine was going to be limited, why say those things and give hope to people? It's just... frustrating.
What is the saddest part I think was setting up an ultimatum for the Sims 4 even before the release. I think Maxis team was expecting a backlash and poor sales when they said, "the will be no Sims 5 if the Sims 4 doesn't sell well." It is the first Sims game in history that has set up a ransom note with it. That isn't a good way to start any game. EA did finally admit this summer the sales for the Sims 4 in 2014 were not that great, but 2015 sales are improving. Still no figures released. But I doubt it is anything close to the Sims 3 initial release sales figures.
At least I can say even despite a studio fire, my favorite Sims game didn't come with a ransom note and performed fairly well unlike how the Sims 4 was treated. Maxis actually cared more for the Sims 2. So much more love and detail went into that game.
