cause the most important parts about the sims themselves, their inner life feels like a patched in afterthought & not the core around which everything else is being made, those TS4 sims themselves feel to me like mere decorational objects to enlive the scenery & connect the two 3D tools, buildmode & CAS
we'll see what it will become of it
You bring up a good point @Rukola_Schaaf. There is only moderate Simulation programming in this Simulation Program Engine. Simulation generally has persistent data that has more and more consequence on the game as time goes on. In fact, almost every persistent data that is stored seems to have limited functionality. It almost feels like the system is going to break if more complex logic even tries to communicate to the AI scripts. The family trees are a prime example of this.
I think the reason for the lack of depth is that again, we are looking at a recycled engine from many iterations ago when Sims 2 rolled out. Simulation Engine design is some of the toughest and most time-consuming logic to write, so I wonder if it was just a challenge for the team to do in a certain time-frame. I wonder how much of the previous code they are actually trying to use, or if they just rewrote the SAME logic, but in a new way, that is also not really working out to allow for more happening under-neath the hood.
