Actually EA's stock is at an all time low right now if other sources I read and hear are to be believed. Basically other games published by EA are not getting the expected sales numbers/revenue. So in other words they can no longer monetize like they used to as gamers stopped buying. While the Sims franchise is selling well, that same scheme does not translate to other games.
That's due to the fact that Battlefield 5 and Fifa didn't do so good the past year, (thanks to EA themselves mind you) but EA seems to keep wanting to push their online loot box narrative, releasing incomplete games at 60-100€ that already have full dlc's planned. Gamers are tired of that bs. And some countries have already placed laws against video game gambling systems with reason which is affecting EA and other companies. I hope all the rest of Europe soon follows tbh.
