I hope the new mobile game is an actual pay once and play port of the Sims 4, or something similar, I’m not interested in the Sims Mobile, the gameplay is too straight forward and repetitive for my tastes, I really hope they bring a true sims experience to mobile. From an aesthetic point of view it seems possible since Sims Mobile reuses a lot of game assets and animations from Sims 4 and still looks really good. From a simulation point of view, perhaps it would be a bit more simplified, but as long as the heart of what a Sims game is about is present, then I’d buy it in a heart beat.
I doubt that -
EA already has two mobile Sims games (the Sims Mobile and the Sims Freeplay). So it will certainly take a couple of years before EA even considers to make a new mobile Sims game and it won’t likely happen before EA takes the game server down for at least one of the two existing mobile Sims games!
Also mobile Sims games have not really anything to do with the PC game as long as the mobile games are MMO games while the PC game still is just a traditional offline game.
They have 9 sims mobile games actually that I know of. Since the original Sims game they have had a mobile version - just Sims Freeplay and the new Sims mobile are the two newest and are both free. Past ones were not free. Sims 3 mobile base was 6.99 and it had at least 3 expansions that also cost money. They also had in game purchases as well. I am not sure who made them - maybe Mobely games also owned by EA. I also understand the present Sims mobile is the first one built in Redwood City under the Maxis division.
You are right that they earlier had 3 mobile Sims 3 games too. They cost money and were offline games. Likewise they had a mobile version of Sims Medieval. But all those games were withdrawn from the mobile app stores a long time ago and never updated for the current versions of android and iOS. So they can’t be played anymore unless you still have them on an older mobile device.
Currently the only mobile Sims games in the app stores are therefore the Sims Freeplay and the Sims Mobile and both those games still get updates and new content every week.
