Bethesda has joined the online of things by making their newest Fallout game online only with no single player at all.

I am now done with them too.

Even in online games where you cannot totally kill another player as they respawn there is also the bad side where the player that killed your player can take all your sims hard earned loot and riches - so you can't really die - but you are left starting over with no funds over and over. I read on a lot of online sites that they now do this so players can forever respawn - but having to start over from scratch and with no funds at all could really stink in the Sims especially.

Households - in Sims online which had 3 versions and EA Land - you had 1 household with 1 sim - you had to earn only up to 3 roommates, no kids - just adults, and everything you got cost real money and leveling up the sims skills. The thing that was worse was hackers could steal your stuff and EA did not ever do a thing about it. It would happen again - because there are many countries(like Malaysia) that our laws do not protect us from their laws that allow them to do these things. They are hackers - need I say more. Believe me they are ruthless -

The online version make you use their everything. No mods, no CC outside of a few decor item that had to meet EA approval - and definitely nothing like the kind of things we see in our present day gallery. The worlds and every thing is their control. We cannot change any of their lots as it must look the same for everyone.

If Sims 5 ends up being online that will be when I move on never played Sims Online and clearly the majority of the Sims community felt the same going online will be the death of the Sims just like Sim City. Some games are just meant to be played alone instead of starting the Sims 5 to be online like Sims 4 was started they should make the game offline from the get go and do it right with CAW cars and all life stages as base game features... This picture below is about as exciting as it would be to play with other people with early Sims 4.

Complete "Engine i d i o t" here but could Sims 4 be moved over to the Frostbite engine, would it suit it or Sims 4 evolved into a Sims 5 eventually? The "i" word is plumbed but refers to me!

Probably not, because it's more suited to RPGs, I think. Sims has always used its own engine because it's literally its own genre at this point

From what I heard about that - it is the new S.E.E.D program they've spent several years working on - as that also was said to use Cloud technology. This considered the future of gaming and EA is not the only company headed there. Some of your other fave big studios - are talking the same talk.

Heck even my internet and my Cable went totally high digital last night - took all darn night and I already had super fast service - but I guess I am ready for anything. I have Spectrum business. LOL.

That is one of the things I like about Windows 10 Edge now as you can wipe all cookies, web permissions and all Web history in its' advanced settings. You have to have a good memory for passwords though as never tick "remember me!"

It's the mobile phone that finds you whatever you do. I thought I had lost it once and knowing that I had put it into flight, do not disturb, offline modes I had given up after ringing it on my landline, thinking I had lost it shopping. I rang o2 and, sure enough I heard the mobile ring under a pile of clothes I had put out for the washing machine. I saw on TV this morning this facility had caught out an insurance fraudster trying to get a new phone for his supposedly "lost" one so it has it's uses. Tracks lost people etc. I think it's the IMEI number they track?

To get on track again I would give up this game and EA entirely if "They" had this hold over any game of mine. Microsoft already tries hard with its' Solitaire" collection if you play online.

The way things are going Red Dead Redemption could recoup all its' expenses by December. $60 per pack. If EA/Maxis produced such a life changing game in Sims 5 as was done with The Sims in 2000, think how many Simmers would be happy to invest in it and make a profit for them. Come on EA/Maxis. Not all of us like to go round in games and kill anything we see.

The "matchmaking" sounds intriguing to me. It would be really cool if they could group players per preference in a front ended manner. Perhaps you end up in a world more geared to you and others preferences (that match). Not sure that would be suitable for the sims and no where in this article or blog post does it mention the sims will be done this way.
Although again .. I wouldn't be surprised if it were optional.
I'm seeing shades of secondlife though .. and unless they police or control a world anything akin to that more heavily for performance for various users, flow, and actual gameplay being managed and actively encouraged. I don't see it being all that more than a second .. secondlife.
If they apply this smart AI though .. to single player and even multiplayer games with the world changing in a way that makes sense (some might not want it to make sense). It could be interesting.

What was described sounds more like the worlds would be server worlds and we wouldn't have any control if that came to this series. And did you catch the real world would also influence what happens the game world? Does that mean if a huricane had hit somewhere we come back to a game to find out all the houses were wiped out? Or does that mean whatever would be trending on Twitter or some other social media would be trending in our Sim world (again if this type of tech came to this series)? I would never be able to deal with server worlds where I'm not in some control of what happens or what type of Sims I allow into my worlds and or what is there today and gone tomorrow. It's one reason many who loved TS2 could not bear TS3's story progression. And it seems this new tech would take away even more world control for players. I can't see Simmers wanting to play worlds where their Sim house might be gone when they come back to the game, or like old crows ousting other birds from their nests, other players maybe evicting someone's Sim just to move in their own. lol

Sim players might have liked some of SP in TS3, but most of them who didn't play with it off, installed the mods to control all of SP so I don't see even them liking a world they can't actually control, either.

I agree I wouldn't like most of what they are describing to be applied to the Sims. Much of it wouldn't belong in a game called the the Sims. I don't think they are necessarily talking about the Sims though. If they include some aspects though I'd like to see smarter AI. I'd like to see different responses at times from NPC's . I might not mind stepping out of a known safe zone for a different experience from time to time either as long as I have that sort of area in the game to go back too.
I'm very much a control freak so it all really just depends on how a game is done. Sims or otherwise. For instance in some of those games that aren't the sims I don't like PVP.. I like PVE. I also like to have a safe area to group or chat or plan. I like to have a home area to stash my goods.. that I know is safe. I hate trolling and can't understand how people get their jollies by tearing down others work.. so it would have to have some aspect of safety if they apply it to non sims games, so if the Sims game takes a leap and evolves some to a more changing world (would probably have to be gradual for me). I'd just have to see how it was presented. The preferences .. intrigue me. I do see possibilities there. I see more control in some sense happening if the preferences really mean something. I never said I'd buy it though or if the way it was presented interested me enough I might buy or trial it. If I didn't like it though I could walk away.
